Caring for your roof
A little attention
goes a long way.
General maintenance pointers to help you spot when your thatch roof may need professional attention.
Watch for changes
Leaks, uneven areas, visible thinning or loose material can signal the need for an assessment. Avoid climbing onto the roof to investigate.
Keep the roof clear
Accumulated debris and nearby overhanging branches deserve attention. Ask a professional about safe clearing and maintenance.
Repair or rethatch?
Localised damage and widespread deterioration can require different solutions. A roof assessment helps determine a suitable scope.
Your questions, answered.
Which areas do you serve?
CKM Thatchers serves Pretoria and Johannesburg. Send your suburb or project location on WhatsApp to discuss availability.
What should I include when requesting a quote?
Share your location, the service required, a description of the roof or lapa and any visible issues. After sending your enquiry, you can attach photos directly in WhatsApp.
Can you quote from photos alone?
Photos help with an initial discussion. A site assessment may be needed to check dimensions, structure, access and the full scope before a quotation is confirmed.
Do you offer fire-retardant spraying and a certificate?
Yes. CKM Thatchers offers fire-retardant spraying for thatch roofs with a five-year certificate issued following treatment. Ask about the certificate terms and maintenance requirements when requesting your quotation.
How long will the project take?
Timing depends on the scope, roof size, condition, materials and weather. Discuss a proposed schedule with CKM Thatchers when arranging your quotation.
